The cystic hygroma of the mediastinum is a benign tumor and very infrequent, representing only 0.7 to 4.5% of all mediastinal tumors, and of these, only 1% is exclusively mediastinal in location. The definitive diagnosis is only possible by pathological examination, and the recommended treatment consists of complete surgical resection.
